Maria Clara is an artist and scenographer based between Geneva and Lugano.
In her research and practice, she explores space as a dramaturgical driving force, a site of tension between the intentional and the accidental. She focuses on how this dialogue generates unexpected spatial narratives, both in reality as well as in fiction.
She graduated in Art and Theatre History (Alma Mater Studiorum, Bologna), in Interior Architecture (Head, Genève) and in Scenography (La Manufacture, Lausanne). As a set designer, she collaborated with Mathilde Monnier, Virgile Dagneaux, and Daniele Pintaudi. She worked as teaching assistant in Head – Genève.
She is an artist-in-residence at the Comédie de Genève for the 2024–2027 period, in collaboration with director Eléonore Bonah. She is co-author of the play Lenz (2024). Together with Bonah, she is currently working on a new production (Chrüsimüsi, 2026).
